Working on projects with Pickett Furniture and Design involves following the easy step-by-step process outlined below. We make every effort to ensure your expectations are met and exceeded by clearly stating our process and addressing any client concerns.

PAYMENTS

 

 

Pickett Furniture and Design determines payment schedules based on the type of project. Our services fall into 4 main categories: Custom Fabrication, Product Development, Design Services & Technical Services.  

 

 

INQUIRY & PROPOSAL:

Clients contact us by phone or email to discuss their projects. Follow up site visits, drawings, and phone calls help us to fully understand the project. We collaborate with the client to reach a proposed design concept and produce basic budgetary cost estimates and line drawings when necessary. 

 

 

CONTRACT & DEPOSIT:

Clients inform us of their desire to work together and we draft a customized contract of engagement that specifies a project outline, estimated scope of work, projected timeline, special considerations, cost breakdown, & signatures of both parties. In acceptance, clients digitally sign the contract and submit payment of the deposit specified. 

 

 

DRAWINGS & APPROVALS:

Clients are presented with any required drawings, renderings, and materials specifications that have been determined during the design process. After client review, the packet is digitally signed to signify approval of all aspects, including measurements, finish, & final price. Any significant changes to the design, project scope, or materials are subject to a change order billed at the time of approval. 

 

 

ORDERING & PRODUCTION:

After final dimensions and materials are confirmed, Pickett is able to purchase the chosen materials and begin production. Timelines vary based on the nature of the work but average lead times are 8-12 weeks. Large scale project timelines depend on construction schedules. Progress reports can be submitted to the client upon request.

 

 

DELIVERY & INSTALLATION:

Pickett Furniture & Design's team prepares your items for delivery with the utmost care to ensure it is not damaged in transit. The team prepares hallways and common spaces to protect their surfaces, and will clean throughout the process. Onsite work that requires more than one day will be billed a flat daily rate for an estimated number of days.  

 

 

SCHEDULING & FINAL PAYMENT:

As the project approaches the final stages of construction, the Pickett staff will coordinate with the client a mutually convenient time for delivery and/or on-site work to be conducted. Final payment will be due based on the type of project. The applicable payment schedules are located in each client contract and are listed below. 

 

 

CUSTOM FABRICATION: DELIVERY

A project that can be delivered and assembled onsite in one day will follow a payment schedule of 50% deposit upon contract approval and 50% due no less than five (5) business days before scheduled delivery.  

 

 

TECHNICAL SERVICES

A project that requires our technical services will receive a proposal of scope of work, estimated hours, project timeline, and specified deliverables. This package requires full payment prior to the commencement of work.   

 

 

DESIGN SERVICES

A project that requires our design services will receive a proposal of scope of work, estimated hours, project timeline, and specified deliverables. This package requires full payment prior to the commencement of work. Projects that require ongoing design services can request a monthly retainer plus cost pricing.  

 

 

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT: FABRICATION

A project that consists of large product quantities will follow a payment schedule of 50% deposit upon prototype and contract approval, 25% due no less than thirty days (30) before scheduled completion, and 25% due upon receipt.

 

 

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT: PROTOTYPE

A project that requires our prototype services will be charged based on the creation of one market ready version of their product, helping to identify efficiency improvements, grade material selections, and further advance cost estimates which requires full payment prior to the commencement of work.   

 

 

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT: GROUNDWORK

A project that requires our product development services will receive a proposal of scope of work, estimated hours, project timeline, and specified deliverables. This package can include product engineering, vendor sourcing, market research, and prototype costing and requires full payment prior to the commencement of work.   

 

 

CUSTOM FABRICATION: DESIGN + BUILD

A project whose conception begins with Pickett and requires a longer design collaboration will follow a payment schedule of 10% design deposit due upon proposal agreement, 40% due upon contract approval, with the remaining 50% following either delivery or installation payment standards to be specified in the contract.

 

 

CUSTOM FABRICATION: INSTALLATION

A project that requires more than one day onsite will follow a payment schedule of 50% deposit upon contract approval, 25% due no less than five (5) business days before scheduled delivery, and 25% due upon completion.
